Angela Moessner

Contemporary Dance
Somatic Movement

Angela Moessner is a native of Tyrol, currently residing in Munich. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Dance and Dance Pedagogy at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz. Following her time with the Swedish dance company Norrdans and involvement in various projects with a newly formed collective, Angela decided to deepen her exploration of the interplay between scientific knowledge and practical expertise in movement, body, and dance. This led her to pursue a Master's degree at the Bruckner University.

During her studies, Angela developed a keen interest in the relationship between verbal movement descriptions in dance and the non-verbal communication of the moving body. Her work now focuses on the integration of breath, movement, and voice within contemporary dance education. Her research is inspired by approaches from Eurythmy (founded by Rudolf Steiner), linguistic Action Theater, and breath practices, exploring everything from vocalization, sound formation, and screaming to pulsating breathing techniques.

Since relocating to Munich, Angela has been involved with the Haus der Kunst and continues to work with a children's and youth association, offering free dance activities in public spaces for young audiences. She also teaches dance at "Neues Tanzen" and regularly performs as a stage dancer under the direction of choreographer Stephanie Felber.

Angela's teaching is profoundly inspired by her passionate interest in somatic practices and bodywork, including Feldenkrais, Yoga, Gyrokinesis, Gaga, and Laban Movement Analysis. She is committed to ongoing professional development in areas that resonate with her holistic approach to life. Her pursuits include training in Source Point Therapy, Rolfing, Gyrokinesis instruction, as well as studies in philosophy, child education, poetry, and psychology—all aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of herself and the world around her.
