Alexander Pereda
Cuban Ballet Method
Born and trained in Cuba, Alexander Pereda is an internationally recognised ballet master whose expertise is firmly rooted in the Cuban Ballet Method. His artistic and pedagogical development was shaped through intensive training with Fernando Alonso, the founder of the method, and his daughter, Laura Alonso.
Alexander began his professional path at the National Ballet School in Camagüey. He quickly rose to Principal Soloist with Ballet de Camagüey before joining ProDanza in Havana, where he worked closely with Laura Alonso as mentor and artistic director.
He later became a Principal Soloist with the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, performing internationally in leading classical roles. His stage repertoire includes Basilio in Don Quixote, James in La Sylphide, and featured roles in works such as Le Corsaire, Diane and Actaeon, and La Bayadère.
Alexander’s artistic achievements have been recognised with major honours, including the Diploma of Honour in 1991 and the Special Joffrey Award in 1994. Today, he brings a deep understanding of Cuban stylistic clarity, virtuosity, and musical precision to his coaching and teaching.
His work as a ballet master supports dancers in developing strong classical technique, dynamic coordination, and professional stage awareness. Through his teaching, Alexander passes on the principles of the Cuban Ballet Method with an emphasis on discipline, musicality, technical brilliance, and expressive performance quality.
