
Eduardo Boechat
Ballet Repetiteur
Eduardo Boechat is a Brazilian pianist and audio designer based at Ballett am Rhein (Deutsche Oper am Rhein) in Düsseldorf. He has held this position since the 2016/17 season, working first under the direction of Martin Schläpfer (2016/17–2019/20) and, since then, under Demis Volpi. His work supports ballet productions, studio rehearsals, and live performance contexts, and he has collaborated within repertory associated with choreographers such as George Balanchine, Hans van Manen, Martin Schläpfer, William Forsythe, Jerome Robbins, and Uwe Scholz, among others.
In 2022, Boechat participated in the ‘Hans van Manen Festival’ at Dutch National Opera and Ballet (Amsterdam), marking the choreographer’s 90th birthday. He has performed in live ballet productions at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and internationally in Spain, Taiwan, and Japan.
He completed professional internships at the Bolshoi Theatre (Moscow) in 2009, 2013, and 2017. During the 2013 internship, he played for ballet classes for acclaimed artists including Viktor Barykin, Vladimir Nikonov, and Aleksandr Vetrov, alongside other distinguished soloists and guest artists at the Bolshoi.
Boechat has maintained a long-standing collaboration with Salzburger Landestheater, including compiling soundtrack material for Peter Breuer’s ballet ‘Dance for Satisfaction’ (2015), contributing to ‘Mythos Coco Chanel’ (January 2016), and creating musical arrangements for Breuer’s ballets ‘Marie Antoinette’ and ‘Elements’ (2013). His discography includes several dance-class and repertoire releases, such as ‘Ballet Class Volume 2’ (2015) with Brazilian prima ballerina Cecilia Kerche, ‘Cecilia Kerche Ballet Class’ (2013), and ‘Galina Kravchenko – Character Dance – 1st level’ (CD and DVD, 2014).
From 2001 to 2015, he served as Pianist and Audio Designer at the Bolshoi Ballet School in Brazil, collaborating with distinguished artists including Galina Kozlova, Viktor Barykin, Nina Speranskaya, Philip Beamish, Julio Bocca, Jair Moraes, Toshi Kobaiashi, and Tindaro Silvano. During this period, he contributed to major productions and performances, toured with recitals in Switzerland, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Brazil, and supported the creation of Brazil’s Young Bolshoi Ballet Company. His work included compiling traditional music for classical ballet and modern repertory for the school’s contemporary programme, assisting audio design for performances, and preparing suites such as ‘Don Quijote’ and ‘The Nutcracker’ for rehearsals and live productions. He also collaborated with prominent Bolshoi Theatre soloists including Natalia Osipova, Ivan Vasiliev, Dmitry Gudanov, Ekaterina Krisanova, Marianna Ryzhkina, Andrey Bolotin, Joo Yoon Bae, Elena Andrienko, and Vladimir Neporozhniy.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Piano Performance) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, graduating magna cum laude under the guidance of Homero Capatti, Ondine de Mello, and Telmo Côrtes. In 1999, he won First Prize in the university’s Soloist Competition, performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the university symphonic orchestra.
